As ICFF hosts North America’s premier showcase for contemporary design, the fair has asked a unique team of talented craft and design experts to curate a gallery that specifically focuses on using the fair as a vehicle to develop and showcase innovation in local and international artisanal design.
RISD Alum and design expert Chardonnay Pickard 07 IL, artisan-made textile designer and advocate Susan Easton, and world-renowned designer Tucker Robbins, have come together to create an eclectic array of incredible textiles, accessories and furniture. The group has compiled a collection of work that they believe demonstrates the transcendent truths of indigenous and artisanal craft practices, including: Haiti Artisan Project by Urban Zen/Donna Karan, Zolaykha Sherzad, Oliver Yaphe, Alison Kettlewell-Kettlewell Collection, Profirio Gutierrez, Tucker Robbins, Neha Puri Dhir, Docey Lewis, From the Road, Archive New York and Kofu.
The impetus behind the booth’s creation was that the curators hope to show how indigenous and artisanal partnerships have a very strong place within the design community and particularly among the designers, makers and editors attending ICFF.
